The Role

We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our Hospitality Services Team in Blackheath. Our cuisine is based on fresh and quality products and offers healthy food options for lunch & dinner service.

The kitchen needs to cope with high volumes and high standards, therefore the ability to remain calm and level-headed throughout the service is essential.

We are also interested in receiving applications from people wanting to work for us on a casual basis by joining our Bank Staff list where a variety of shifts will be available from Monday to Sunday.

  • To work as part of the Hospitality Services Team on rota basis to ensure that Morden College residents, staff and visitors benefit from freshly prepared, nutritious and well-presented food for breakfast, lunch and supper on a daily basis throughout the year.
  • As a Chef you will take direction from the Assistant Catering Manager and from the Hospitality Services Manager in terms of the catering area of Morden College in which shifts will be worked and the duties that will be undertaken. And, to prepare, to produce and, where applicable, to serve food items according to the daily menus.
  • To prepare in advance in accordance with the menu plan for subsequent shifts/days which includes but not limited to: defrosting food, preparing vegetables, marinating and baking.

About you

  • Able to work in a team and take instruction
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Strong work ethic
  • Previous experience in a similar catering or food production
  • Posses a Level 2 food safety certificate
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Great all round practical cookery skills
  • Ability to menu plan and provide high quality food service to our residents
